New finds

Some new finds from an exploratory trip to Southern Illinois and Missouri. Originally I was focusing on Silurian rocks, but wasn't having much luck.

 

 

Mississippian fossils

 

 

Kaskia chesterensis

 

 

Richmondian stage fossils

Missouri 

 

Conulariid impression.

Very beautiful magnified. Haven't had much time yet to look up names.

 

Not sure what this species is. Very small, just a few mm.

Ameura is a Pennsylvanian-Permian genus.  Instead check Brezinski 2008 for the best match of this Kaskia sp.

 

The small Ordovician trilobites are Ampyxina bellatula. Congrats on all the great finds!

After further deliberation I would label it Kaskia chesterensis.  Brezinski also describes K. rosei from Illinois, but that is a poorly defined species that might be synonymous with K. chesterensis. Attached for comparison is K. chesterensis from the Ridenhower Shale near Millstadt, Illinois.
