BIGSTICK89
I was digging out a drain line and hit this with my shovel. I understand that the odds of finding a real egg are slim to none but i have worked in the dirt most my life and have never seen anything quite like this. Kane
I'm going to go with concretion; the "shell" would likely be far too thick for any young critter to get through. 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Fossildude19
I agree. The shell is way too thick to be an egg. This is a concretion. digit
Yup. Concretions are the number one type of find that brings curious folks here for answers because they do resemble eggs in their layering. Real fossilized eggs, as you suspected, are beyond exceedingly rare. I'm not very familiar with the fossils found in the greater Seattle area but I do recall some members hunting for concretions in the area which contain interesting fossilized crabs. You mention a line of work where you spend a lot of time digging. Keep your eyes out for more interesting things--sooner or later you may happen upon a fossil. If you do, we'd love to see images here. Cheers. -Ken
