Hi my son has this skull. His Grandad found it for him as he loves collecting bones and fossils. Could anyone help us to identify this skull for him?

I would also say badger. Very robust, low-set eye sockets with large infraorbital (hole below eye socket) and prominent sagittal crest (where jaw muscles attach) Is the bottom jaw able to detach fully from the skull? Badger jaws are fixed.

Thanks Bran, I Did not know about the fixed jaws.

I just read that the honey badger is in a different genus from the european badger, do you know if the jaw is fixed in both?

For ID purposes though I could imagine that even a fixed jaw comes loose after being handled by three generations.

Best Regards,

J
