FossilDAWG Posted May 20, 2021 Share Posted May 20, 2021 Species cannot be determined from isolated vertebrae, but suggestions might be made if one knows where the fossils originated including the geological formation and age. Whale vertebrae, even if completely preserved, are most often not identifiable even to the family level, with rare exceptions, and in some cases - such as these - we can't be sure whether they're from a small baleen whale or a large toothed whale. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
