(Almost) microscopic agates in petrified wood

I thought I would share this unique piece of petrified wood I own. I don’t know if this is rare, but I couldn’t seem to find anything on this. To the naked eye, the rings of the wood are tiny white rocks. But under the microscope, you can clearly identify agates. Fraxinus Nigra is the name of the species. The microscopic pictures are too large for the post, but I think you can download them to view.

That is very very cool!  The magnified images are awesome, I collect petrified wood also but don't have that power magnification and no idea agates could be so small or make up the rings!

That is awesome, thanks for sharing. I'd also like to see the whole piece with its dimensions.

I apologize, I should have blurred that! It wasn’t the actual specimen, but another piece for sale. I’ll blur out the price

Nice! But I'd still be interested to see a photo of the complete specimen.

Completely forgot to put in the dimensions!
It is 6.75 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 3/8 inches thick.

It’s not that high of a magnification! Only about 10-20x. You can get microscopes like that for your phone camera! It’s really cool! I also found a worm trail in one of my other specimens. I might post that later.

Thank you.  We prefer that all ad copy be cropped from any images.  ;)
