KadyJane
I found this in Black Hawk County Iowa. It is approx. 9cm x 11cm x 3cm. My guesses are always wrong even when (or especially when) I use Google images so I'm looking forward to being in the right spot for help. Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. I'm not really seeing any fossil here, unfortunately. Looks more like weathered/eroded chert, to me. FossilDAWG
Welcome! Don't be discouraged, but I also don't see a fossil. I agree that it looks like a piece of weathered chert. Keep looking though! Don
KadyJane
Of course i would have liked to hear that it's a fossil. Who doesn't want a fossil? :-) I just appreciate the help w/ identification. Every little bit helps when it comes to trying to learn.
