Petrified wood or Schist rock?

Found this item in a creek in the blue ridge mountains.  It is very heavy for the size.  Any thoughts on if it could be petrified wood or just a schist rock?

Looks like schist to me. :look:

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

If it shows many small shiny faces of mica, then it is schist.  It does not look like petrified wood.
