Sparksy Posted June 17, 2021 Share Posted June 17, 2021 Hi to everyone on here, I'm based in the UK and have been collecting and hunting fossils since I was a kid. Hopefully I can get some help on here about a find I made in April this year... I'm no expert just always been interested in fossils So in Northumberland we found lots of cryniod fossils, belomites and other small fossils but on the beach I found this which looks like a fossil bone, it anyone got any ideas, cheers sparksy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think it is an interestingly shaped rock. But wait for other opinions. FranzBernhard Posted June 18, 2021 Share Posted June 18, 2021 (edited) Welcome to TFF from Austria! It looks like a partly weathered, iron-rich (siderite / limonite / hematite) concretion to me. These can have very bizarre shapes or very simple ones. These below are all siderite concretions in various shapes and stages of alteration to limonite and hematite, all from the same site.
