CryptoKing
ok let me start by saying I have no knowledge in this area at all. Now let me give you some background on this. I had 30 huge dump truck loads of dirt brought to my home by my friend. He told me this dirt came from 25 ft down in like the sedimentary layer which he thought was part of the intercoastal waterway at 1 time long long ago. But it is full of bones of all sorts of stuff. This one though I'd like to know what it is. If you could help me I'd appreciate it. Then if you want I'll show you some stuff that will blow your mind and some stuff which you won't believe but is factual.

Hi there, for those of us that have been on the forum for many years and have hunted for our own fossils out in the field, blowing one's mind I feel is a bit of a stretch for most of us. Impressed at an interesting and scientifically significant find, yes that can be cool, but we generally as a group have a great deal of perspective when approaching fossils as a hobby/vocation. To me this looks like a piece of limestone (sedimentary rock ?), the slightly blurry photos make any determination beyond that a bit difficult. Sometimes, round-ish forms like this can hint at a cast or steinkern of a shell that has long since worn away. The Ashley Marl formation (limestone) down in South Carolina can have all sorts of odd shapes, holes, voids and interesting bubbly surface features. (and contain fossils) But natural processes can take on some 'blow your mind' forms as well. An example: My advice ? You can learn a lot from the forum, so sit back and breathe deep, if learnin' is what you are after. Welcome to the forum. Fossildude19
No bilateral symmetry, no bone texture. No suture lines, and no actual skull morphology. I am in the rock camp. 1 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Thomas.Dodson
It sounds like you've already made up your mind but I also say rock. Not a fossil, not a bone, and definitely not a skull. I would encourage you to take your specimen to a museum or professional to have examined if you don't consider the opinions here.
CryptoKing
ok alot of rocks are fossils when an animal/dinosaur dies and it's in the right conditions it will turn to a rock like fossil. mud fossil. This is 100% fact if you need proof of this I can show you. alot of the stuff I've found u can see it changing into a rock and the other side will still have skin on it. I found a tongue and it felt just like my tongue until it dried. u are probably laughing but if this is what u do then u need to be open about stuff like this just because you don't believe doesn't make it not true. Lone Hunter
I'm curious what do you think the skull is from based on the shape? I am very open minded since I am still learning also. Would like to see what else you found so hope you post pics.

First, you confess no knowledge about fossils, then you assert that people with fossil identification experience need to keep an open mind about something that is not a fossil...as being a fossil. What evidence can you show this is a fossil? The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
CryptoKing
only evidence I have is looking at it. it is what it is and my friends dad is a surgeon and he pointed out the anotamy. he said looks like a rock but there's the sinus cavity theres a bunch of other stuff I can pronounce. the white stuff which is under the skin I can't remember what he called it. how can I prove it what kind of test do I need to do. because it's facts

Since your 'facts' / beliefs about what you have will not likely be swayed by evidence to the contrary, any further discussion will not be very productive. This topic will be locked. As @Thomas.Dodson mentioned, take it to your nearest natural history Museum or paleontology department at a university. 3 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
