I found this little piece In a gravel bed on the Kansas River outside Kansas City.  Does anyone have any ideas?   Could just be a weird shaped rock or coral?

Perhaps with a button hole (nodule) which contained more soluble impurities ?

Sorry. I don't see any indication of it being coral either.
