Fossildude19
This view looks like very polished bone, to me. Not human. Maybe a vertebral process? 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Habra
Yes, we thougt that too. Why do you think it is not human? Do you have a Idea which animal it could be? Edited July 8, 2021 by Habra
Kane
Well, to flip this around, why do you think it might be human? On what basis? 1 2 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Tidgy's Dad
I still think chert. But I also agree with Kane : if this is a bone, why should one think it's human? 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Rockwood
I'd need to take my shoes off to count the indications of this being a fine bone. Human, does need further exploration.
val horn
it looks like bone, but nothing in the shape matches the human anatomy. Human anatomy being very well studied and understood. It could it be human if it broke in such a way that it lost 95 percent of the anatomical markers typical of a human long bone; maybe (not likely). also humans have not been around very long the geological time frame, and our origins appear to have been in africa making human fossils unlikely to be found in the baltic coast. fossilus
Reminds me of a proximal radius with the distal portion missing. Human? Beyond my experience!
Habra
Okay, thank you for the discussion.
fossilus
So I pulled shot of a human radius off the web. Yours looks similar but is very worn and does have some differences (which may be due to wear). you probably need to have someone compare yours to an actual human radius for sure identification.
