Unknown fossil shark tooth ID (possibly Mako shark?)

Hello,

I just found this shark tooth in my collection.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about fossil shark teeth, so I wanted to ask you for help. The tooth measures about 38mm on the longest side, but I don't know where the tooth was found.
At the first look, it looks like a Mako shark tooth to me, but what species? I only know the modern ones...

Maybe you can help me. Thank you in advance and best regards from Germany

Yes it is a mako. It may be a hastalis if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you very much for your fast reply :)

Yes to Carcharodon hastalis although technically not a mako but rather an extinct white shark that evolved into the Great White (Carcharodon carcharias). People often still call them “makos,” though as they were previously categorized as such (Isurus hastalis). Your tooth has the look of some of the teeth from Chile.
