I thought so when I first picked it up but it has enamel on both sides and the root is long and not wide like a sharks tooth.

The root seems to look like bone. Are you sure it's enamel, not just polished, unworn bone surface? Generally teeth roots don't have bonelike structure.

Not sure if this is a tooth. If it is , what from?

Hi There,

This looks like a broken .. and very worn megalodon tooth bit.  That is why there is a weeeeee bit of enamel remaining on both sides.  I'll image edit a few ideas so you can see where I'm coming from. I think the cross-section profile pic gives it away. The roots can get this shape/enamel combination as well when they are worn and broken.

The roots can definitely get all gnarly and porous.

Yes I can see what your saying. The ocean can do strange thing to a tooth or bone after who knows how many years.  Thanks for all the info.

Hi Carl, yes the more I study it the more I can see how this was worn down over the years in the ocean. It amazes me what the ocean deposits on the beach. There’s a whole lot more than pretty shells to pick up if you look close enough. Thanks Carl!
