It does have the appearance of C. hastalis or a similar tooth. However this tooth is extremely worn with much of the root missing. Ocean Isle Beach is in an are of NC that mainly consists of Cretaceous deposits inland. The tooth could be from offshore deposits that were pumped on the beach during a beach renourishment. I honestly would be hesitant to put any I.D. on this other than shark tooth indet.
