Jackito
New member here and I've been doing some fossil hunting with my 9 yr old son. We found this in Harker Heights, Texas and I can't figure out what it is. I'm hoping it's tooth from a shell crushing shark. Might be a shell? Jared C
Welcome to the fossil forum @Jackito First, I should mention that it looks like "Harker Heights" auto corrected in your title and description - you can edit your response to reduce confusion. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you have a shell crusher (aka Ptychodus) tooth. It seems like it might geologic - aka not a fossil - however, the symmetry that it has is suggestive. Perhaps you have some sort of bivalve. It'll take another more experienced member to give you a definitive answer, which I'm sure will be soon. Otherwise, best of luck on your future fossil excursions, and welcome to the forum! “Not only is the universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think” -Werner Heisenberg
