Harker Heights, Tx Tooth?

New member here and I've been doing some fossil hunting with my 9 yr old son.

We found this in Harker Heights, Texas and I can't figure out what it is. I'm hoping it's tooth from a shell crushing shark. Might be a shell?

Welcome to the fossil forum @Jackito

First, I should mention that it looks like "Harker Heights" auto corrected in your title and description - you can edit your response to reduce confusion.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you have a shell crusher (aka Ptychodus) tooth. It seems like it might geologic - aka not a fossil - however, the symmetry that it has is suggestive. Perhaps you have some sort of bivalve. It'll take another more experienced member to give you a definitive answer, which I'm sure will be soon.

Otherwise, best of luck on your future fossil excursions, and welcome to the forum!
