Gagaticeras sp.

Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire, England

Approximate age: Lower Lias, Lower Jurassic . This was not prepared by my regular guy because he has retired. To me it is slightly over prepped . This is  I think just a preference.

Found this the other day in a box. I really don’t know why I have kept. This maybe was the first Asteroceras Ammonite? I have found in time a few and much nicer specimens. Saying that sometimes i like the forums and composition that accidentally happens when splitting a nodules. ugly damaged but I think still interesting piece?

Asteroceras Ammonite
Age: Lower Lias, Jurassic
Location: Charmouth, Dorset, UK

I will show much better  example soon.

What a fun thread.  Love the associated postcards... nice touch, Bobby.

Thanks my friend. Been very dyslexic I try to make my thread visually interesting. Also because I lived in parts of the U.K. where there is very little fossil finding  opportunity , most my finds are from been on holiday. So that’s where I got the idea of postcards . I also do really like old postcards to.

cheers Bobby

CALOCERAS Johnstoni  Watchet, Somerset, UK.

One summer I found a lot of ammonites from Somerset but sadly we needed some cash so I sold them. I kept the leased desirable one’s. But saying that I did give Doren a nice multi block I have to see if I have a picture.

Watchet is not far from Bridgwater, my place of birth, so became one of my earliest fossil hunting grounds,

I found a few of these ammonites myself and, just like you, sold them when times were hard.
