fossil_lover_2277
Hey! I recently found these shark teeth fossils in Harleyville, SC. They come from Eocene strata. As best I can tell, I think they are Isurus praecursor and Brachycarcharias, but I’m no expert in identifying Eocene shark teeth...can someone either confirm or correct this? Thanks!! Al Dente
The tooth with the side cusps is most likely Brachycarcharias. Some or all of the other teeth could be Macrorhizodus praecursor.
fossil_lover_2277
Thanks! I looked up Macrorhizodus online and apparently it’s ancestral to Isurus, but then some places it’s lumped together as the same with it, what’s going on with that?
