There are nine candidates, and voting closes on September 30 KARE, Channel 11 Help Choose Minnesota’s State Fossil Minnesota is one of just seven US states without a state fossil. That’s why the Science Museum of Minnesota is leading the effort to name a fossil for Minnesota—and you can help! There are two important qualifications to be chosen as the Minnesota State Fossil: 1.The fossil needs to be found naturally in Minnesota (sorry, no T. rex here) 2.
