Titan
Hi All, Over a year ago I found this in situ NSR - Ozan formation Late Cretaceous; Gulfian Series. It's the only one I've found like this in both size and fossilization. I'm terrible with ammonite identifications and would love to put a name to this little specimen and an opinion on if this might be a heteromorphic ammonite? Might it be a Scaphites sp? Thanks! BobWill
I think you are correct with the ID. Of the ammonites we find at NSR that is the most likely. The tubercles could be worn off and the suture worn down a little way into the septa to lose some of the detail. The most common is Trachyscaphites spiniger spiniger.
