Tooth or look-a-like?

A friend just sent me these pics so I apologize in advance for not providing scale. I was told it's almost 1 3/4 inches long. It was found in Michigan on the shore of Lake Huron. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm currently searching different teeth pictures online so if I figure it I'll post it. Thank you.

It's a deer hoof core (ungual).

? Deer hoof core?  Not tooth may not even be fossil.  A burn test will clarify if it is recent

They would come in pairs, judging by the tracks they leave. Notice the 'conduit' (foramen) for the blood supply to the sheaths.
