Yesterday (9-11-2021) I went to the Denver fossil show. It was my first time going and I really enjoyed it. Most of the show was minerals and gems and jewelry however there were quite a few fossils. Unfortunately, most were Moroccan. There were some Pleistocene fossils, Meg teeth, USA Dino material and a few other things. Well might as well start with the photos. Let’s start with the few mineral pictures i took.

This last one made me laugh, I’ve never seen this species of trilobite before.

Obviously the fakes vary in quality, and since I was not confident in my fake vs real skills I told myself to stay away from anything that might be a fake.

Looks awesome! Thanks for posting some of the goodies they have! I completely forgot this was happening. Do you know how much longer it will run?

I would love to get my hands on one of these bad boys someday…if I ever win the lottery, that is! :D

Yes, that fish was really nice and would look great if you had the money.

Nice , what did you buy yourself? I liked the fishes

I walked away with only one purchase, which was the very thing I warned myself about before, a Moroccan fossil.

I bought this serrated Carch tooth and while not in top condition it’s 3 inches long and for 30 bucks couldn’t pass it up.

Don’t know much about Dinosaur teeth but 30 bucks sounds like a great bargain. Nice job.

I just talked my hubby into going next weekend, so hopefully they still have some good fossils left. :fingerscrossed: Our anniversary is in less than 2 weeks, and since we couldn’t do anything last year and he’ll be gone for this year’s, he owes me a big present. Here I come, fishies! :heartylaugh:

There's a lot there I'm sure there will be good fossils left and if you go at the end you may be able to negotiate more, good luck.

Thanks for sharing, some nice photos and some decent fossils among the shed loads of dead dodgy material.

I did have a good time, apart from the almost 100 degree F (37 degrees C) temps, it was very enjoyable looking at the fossils from all over the world.

Thanks for sharing!
I wish we had something like this here in NZ

I see soooo many fossils I'd be tempted to spend money on, all those shark teeth! It's a shame some Megalodon teeth are polished. I guess it's what some people want.

I see so many very questionable looking "fossils" too haha

@Top Trilo (and anyone else who has been to this or other shows) since tomorrow is the last day for this event, is it acceptable to haggle on prices with vendors?

This was my first time going to the Denver Show and any other fossil show and that was the second day so I can't give any advice on prices for the last day. I'm sure though the sellers would be willing to compromise more towards the end when they want to sell what they have left knowing there isn't any other days left to sell them.

It's always acceptable to haggle.  However, some specimens may be marked "net" and that's supposed to be the price but see what you can do since it is the end of the show.  If you want to buy more than one thing, that helps.

I started going to Denver in the late 80's.  It's kind of a mini-Tucson (fewer shows but still a decent selection of stuff to look through) and you can find other things to do like visit the Denver Museum or the USGS or maybe even take in a Rockies game.  One year, it snowed the day before I got there and it was in the 80's when I flew in.

I live in Denver and I had a great time at this show this year. I was there on the first day and bought a good lot of stuff, including from some of the vendors whose booths were in your pictures! I’m even considering going back again this weekend for more goodies, if I can afford it.

The weather sounds about right for the area haha. It’ll be low 90s F tomorrow when I go. I would love to stay the whole day in Denver but it’s an hour and a half drive one way and we have a dog at home to get back to. Next month a friend from NC is coming to visit and we’re spending almost a week in Denver so I’m going to drag her to the Museum of Nature and Science then.
