Hell creek dinosaur fossil

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

I recently went fossil hunting in Dawson county MT in the Hell Creek formation.

I believe that the fossil I collected is a possible dinosaur vertebra. Is there any way to determine what dinosaur this maybe and if it is a vertebra?

The measurement is 7 inches long and 4 inches wide.

Thank you,

geogrl

first, showing the broken side doesnt help much. From one of the pics, it looks like it might be a the remains of a vert. Please show the intact side.

PS... there is no s in Hell Creek.  As hadrosauridae said, we need to see the other side.  The broken/worn texture says this is dinosaur but tough to tell beyond that

Thank you, I have been prepping this fossil however the back side is so fragile that I did not even notice that I was chipping straight through the bone. I have been reading up on the forum and getting ideas on how to better prep and preserve the bone. I have never prepped a dinosaur bone so this is all new to me, once I clean up the matrix I’ll repost with better pictures.
