Dinosaur Claw from North Carolina ?

Recommended Posts

I have found this claw from a site in Eastern North Carolina which has maastrictian and campanian material. Does anyone know if this is dinosaur ? Some dinosaur material has been found here in the past. Or is this crocodile or turtle maybe? It has the blood grooves on each side, unfortunately the tip is broken off. It is slightly hollow with an oval cavity. I tried to capture as much detail as I could with pictures. Thanks for your help.

@Troodon

Interesting Mark. If it is from where I think, I have found Hadrosaur and Dromaeosaurid teeth there. So a claw is very possible.

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

Sorry for late response in the field collecting in SD.  Yes it does look dinosaurian so congrats great find and one from a Theropod.  Could be hand. I would be speculating on what family it belongs to since its missing the more diagnostic back end.   Guessing you don't have the formation or age its from?  Given its rarity you should try to find out if its from one of the Formations of the Black Creek Group and if so which one.
