I recently got offered a nest of 3 oviraptor eggs in what I think is great condition. I trust the source I’m getting it from but I wanted to run it by you guys to double check that they’re authentic.

let me know what you think!

I'm far from an expert, but those are probably the best looking eggs I've seen anyone ask about since I've joined.

If those are real, they are probably one of the best I have ever seen...

However...they seem too good to be true... There is a uniformity of color that raises a flag with me. I see some areas that look to me as if the "eggs" were attached to the chiseled "substrate". The picture quality is too poor to be definitive IMO.

On the other hand, if the price is right, I'd buy 'em and display 'em.

Big question: I see what appears to be a scale in one of the pictures. How much dose the specimen weigh?

From what I can tell from those pictures, those look to be some very very nice eggs but with some repair.   If those are fake, some dang nice fakes.   And thats the thing, with me that is, im so distrustful of certain fossils that I wont buy them.  But I do wish you the best of luck.

From these photos I don’t see much compositing judging by the textures. I’d ask for better photos with close ups of the distal and proximal ends.

and of course a few UV shots or video

They look pretty real to me. The texture and cracks flow from one eggshell to the next which is a great sign

The Oviraptor eggs I previously posted about finally got here! These were pretty expensive so I just wanted to see what you guys think about them and double check they’re authentic now that I have some better photos.

I also included a few close up pictures I took. If you need any other pics or info let me know

Good. I can see the surface textures (bumps and lines) flowing from one eggshell to the next

The single egg may have had some repairs done to its tip but it doesn't detract much from the fossil. All in all, a good acquisition

Yep that’s the one thing the seller mentioned but overall seemed like a great buy. Thank you!

I agree with Andy. Great quality eggs with a little resto where he pointed it out. I’d be very happy to have these in my own collection!
