Found this two days ago in the Alberta Rockies in a scree slope. Was hoping someone could help me identify it. My first thought was a very worn out trilobite,  but I base that on almost no information and experience lol. Appreciate everyone to takes the time to look at this post, thanks!

I can’t say for sure, but from what I see it doesn’t look like a fossil to me. We’ll see what others have to say. (I went through a period when I first became interested in fossils, when just about any trilobite-shaped rock got me excited. None of them were trilobites.)

The precise location is pocaterra cirque, the screw slope of mount Tyrwhitt in kananaskis public land use zone. The scree slope and these rocks are made of what I believe is shale. Thanks for taking a look!

A quick google search has shown that the lithology in that area is made up mostly of dolomitic and quartzitic sandstones. Not much in the way of fossils to be found there.

@Ludwigia

Thanks for taking the time to check!

could you also please link the website where you found this information? I tried to find it myself, but the most information I found about the tyrwhitt formation was on the site linked below, and it says that the formation is mainly made of sandstone, with some dolomite silt and shale. I am just trying to educate myself on the topic, and it would help me a lot if you could share where you found the information

thanks!
