Is this a diatom? Found in Lee Creek material.

I think, thats to large for a diatom.

Could it be a spicule of a sponge?

That was also a guess on Twitter. 

The shape seems right. At least from my Google search. 

 

I'm pretty excited by this find. I've never seen anything like this.

I was using a microscope (and believe it or not picked it up with tweezers somehow). This was found along with 4 tiny teeth so far in the dust and crumbs of the material. When I say dust that is really all you see with anything but a microscope.
