I knew already beforehand that this one would take me a dog's age to get it done, so I decided to keep an eye on the time. Sure enough, this took me the better part of 23 hours to get it completed. A hash plate full of lots of Tentaculites sp. from the Middle Devonian Givetian deposits at Hungry Hollow, Ontario. Thanks to Peter Lee for the photo.

Wow! That's lovely, both the original specimen and your drawing of it.

Excellent. :)

Too bad Peter's not active here any more. He has quite the setup for macro photos.

Great specimen! Great photo! Wonderful rendering, Roger! That must have kept you pretty busy. I have never seen tentaculites in the Middle Devonian, only Ordovician, Silurian, and Lower Devonian. It appears they were quite abundant in at least one place.

Thanks Jeff. Yes there are lots and lots of 'em at Hungry Hollow.

They occur abundantly in a particular horizon of the Arkona Shale Formation along with some nice Mucrospirifer arkonensis brachiopods.
