Mountain, sea, heat, a nice cocktail.

Collioure is a very nice seaside resort and a military base.

The name of the zoo ? The Valley of the turtles. I know one who is running towards the nearest airport to visit it.

There i met the only turtle who was allowed to eat pizzas, pasta, rice. And she's not a ninja turtle.

My alter ego, Sophie.

We also visited the museum dedicated to the oldest Homo found in France, the man of Tautavel, an Homo erectus (some classify it as Homo heidelbergensis) found in 1971 in the cave of Arago by Henry de Lumley.

We went fossil hunting on the shores of the river Têt, with a Friend, Sébastien. Zanclean clay.

I wondered if the two pieces on the first photo below where wood or something else, specially the one on the top.

We also went in a sand quarry of the same age, but the fossils there are less beautiful and very fragile.

IMG_20210929_125704.thumb.jpg.1a1a9e588bd2e517d04481f682a9d01f.jpg

And to end our trip on a high note, After eating a good cassoulet, we slept in an hotel at the foot of the fortifications of Carcassonne.

It's apparently due to it's previous alimentation.

Pizzas and rice, that's not really good good for a turtle.

Thanks for sharing!  I learned about an area I was not familiar with and that is a very nice assortment of mollusks. Is the long thin shell in the sixth fossil picture a scaphopod?  It looks like one but is a bit blurry to me so I wasn’t sure.
