Looked at other pictures of Petalodus shark teeth, and it has similar features. It looks like a tooth to me....but I don't know. Going off the last picture, it seems like you have most of the root and the actual tooth itself would have been located close to the bottom of the picture. The only thing confusing me is whatever is encasing the very tip of the root - maybe matrix? Nice find!
