Identify? Short, curved horn-like, 2-sided fossil.

Found in Durham, Ontario, Canada, in limestone. Looks like some kind of shell, but am unable to find anything similar online. This specimen was loose but there are others nearby embedded in the limestones.

Mmm.

I think possibly the posterior part of a pentamerid brachiopod pedicle valve.

Yep,think you'ré right.

the hole near the 230 mm mark on the scale could be the pedicle opening,I think

Pentamerids can be fairly abundant in your area, which is situated in the Middle Silurian (Guelph Fm). These rocks are characterized as a sucrosic dolostone. More abundant outcrops (as road cuts) appear as you head just north of Wiarton, or east on Highway 26 before Meaford.
