Australian Paleontology
I found this insect on a slab of rock from the Late Triassic, Blackstone Fm of Qld, Australia. If anybody can help identify it’s clade of hopefully even it’s genus and species I’d be highly appreciative. Thanks!
Al Dente
Are you sure this is an insect and not some plant fragments that resemble an insect?

I’m pretty sure it’s an insect. It’s difficult to examine it from the poor quality of the photos but in person it looks much more pronounced than it does in the images. westcoast
I'm not sure that is insect, although i can see the strong resemblance. It has a stronger resemblance to the plant material however.
Rockwood
I'm afraid I also see only more plant material.
val horn
Absolutely take this in person to a museum or a university paleontology department. I dont know if it is an insect or just plant but it could be very important.

I’ve sent a few photos to a nearby museum a week ago, still haven’t received a response yet however
Fossildude19
This will likely need to be seen in person to determine if it is a fossil insect. My money would be on plant fragments, however. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
