Charmouth, UK - Possible Fossil but not certain

Hi All,

Glad I came across this forum as I found this whilst on the beach at Charmouth with the kids. We picked up the usual ammonites and belemnites but something about this looked interesting when I plucked it out of the mud at the bottom of the cliff. I have no idea what it could be the shapes looked potentially 'bone like'. Any ideas or is it just a funny shaped rock...?IMG_7770.thumb.jpeg.943fd591dedf3d309ac0cde022c7512d.jpegIMG_7771.thumb.jpeg.13c34d4f5a0e526921c89f386372c7dd.jpeg

I don’t see any bone in here. There may just be some ammonites (probably partials), at certain angles it looks as if you can see a keel and maybe a cross section. But I’m doubtful to be honest.

Wait and see if someone else here can see something I can’t, but if not, try giving it a whack with a proper hammer (and eye protection) and see if there’s any ammonites inside.

the shape reminds me of flint nodules that I collected from Salisbury, but it's clearly not flint.  I will stick with a nodule though
