What is this, a bat??

Unsure what this is found it rock hunting in southwest Iowa neat the river on a friend's property.Looks like a bat in utero petrified

Well, we can start by pinning those odds to the wall. I doubt that's it.

I'm afraid I'm going to need more angles/perspective on this to be any help.

I remember when visiting grandparents, I found some silicified Pennsylvanian fusulinids in black chert also known as rice agate; find any?

It isn't a bat.  As @Al Dente said, this looks like a chunk of the underside of a mammal skull.

A skull is made up of several bones. The brain case could almost be described as a separate structure. I think that concept is essentially what produced the shape which could suggest a tooth.
