dbrhol
Hi there I'm just new to the Fossil Forum. I found this large fossil near the Abitibi River in Ontario. Thinking a sea sponge or Coral. It's large - 1.5 ft x 1 ft w x 8 inches in depth. Wondering if anyone could help with the ID or age. Thanks DB
Ludwigia
No question about it. You have a very nice tabulate coral there. 1 3 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

FossilDAWG
Is this the Abitibi River near Iroquois Falls in northern Ontario? If so that is quite mysterious as that whole area is Precambrian Canadian Shield, and far too old for any fossils including corals. The nearest known Paleozoic outcrop is some distance to the south, around Lake Temiskaming, and far to the north around Moosonee and Churchill MB. I was wondering about that myself, but couldn't find enough info about the geology of the area. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. JUAN EMMANUEL
Hello, I was dropping by and this topic caught my attention. This rock looks like it belongs to the Upper Member of the Georgian Bay formation, and it looks similar to the rocks I have found on the Credit River at Streetsville, Mississauga, Ontario. I know the limestone from that member of that formation used to be quarried at various locations where the Georgian Bay formation occurs.
