Mosey'ing around New Jersey

Hello everyone!

In the last month, I found two interesting Mosasaur teeth in two very different locations so I figured I'd share!

For the first, I was digging in the basal Navasink in Southern New Jersey (primarily an invertebrate location). In the matrix, I happened to see a tiny bit of this tooth sticking out. As this is my only Mosasaur tooth in matrix, I prepped it so you can see the tooth better but left it in.

The second is from my usual location - Big Brook. Nothing unusual there however; it does happen to be both my longest and widest Mosasaur tooth! Its under two inches but has some serious weight!

The last picture is of my Mosasaur collection with my new editions in it :)

Dang that is a big tooth! I collected Big Brook for about 10 years and a decent mosasaur tooth evaded me. congrats.

What are the other fossils in the matrix with the first tooth? Just curious.

Most burrows but some bivalve imprints too. I'll try to get a better picture of that.

I think I've commented on this before somewhere but: great collection! And these new additions are just awesome! Looks like the one on matrix is a mosasaurine, and the big one might be a prognathodontid!

Pretty wicked collection of Mosasaur elements, @frankh8147...some really great colors in those teeth and that paddle bone is sweet.

Great collection! Are bones as frequent as teeth (judging by the photo) or you discard most of them?

Teeth are definitely more common than identifiable bone here. My take would be thats because most of the bone we find here are smaller and mostly broken up.

Here's a better picture but even after taking a second-look, I would just say bivalve imprints.
