Gareth_
Last weekend I went to Crystal Mountain, it is a retail store with attached cafe, animal feeding, small rollercoaster (for the kids), large indoor playground etc overall a pretty cool place to visit. Under the shop there is a museum, which is what this post is about - not your typical museum, a lot of things are unlabeled unfortunately, it's quite small (just 3 large rooms with corridors) all set up to look like you're deep underground in a cave. These photos are in no particular order I got my youngest (6 years old) to pose in front of some of the really big crystals to add a bit of scale The complete skeletons and dinosaur skull are plastic 1
Tidgy's Dad
Wow! Lots of photos. Very interesting and thank you very much for sharing. It's nice to know that even museums have dodgy Moroccan specimens as well! 5 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
FB003
Wow nice! I'm jealous. The only museum near me is closed until 2023 for renovations. *Frank*

pachy-pleuro-whatnot-odon
Great visual trip report, Gareth! Always nice to see what collections are available in other parts of the world! Gareth_
Wow thank you all for your comments.... I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in the pics because it's mostly not fossil related.

I would be a little skeptical of that trilobite multi plate lol

I went with the purpose of buying one thing - a meteorite. That will feature in another thread soon. I took some pics inside the shop to take those that are interested on a partial tour of the shop. Some areas of the expensive stuff I missed, I also didn't take any pics of the cheaper area ($5 crystals, bags of tumbled stones etc - we've all seen it before). There is a cafe attached to the side of the shop, but they also have animals to feed and a bunch of peacocks and peahens wandering around the property freely. A peacock joined us for lunch! Gareth_
.....and this is the entrance to the building, before you even get in to the shop. Everything you see (excluding the crystals outside) is for sale. Even the art you see on the walls is made up of tiny pieces of crystal
Gareth_
Inside the shop I forgot to get pics of the fossils, 2 big Meg teeth in poor condition, some trilobites, loads of ammonites, slabs of wood, some insects and a few more.
Wrangellian
Wow, a little bit of everything and a lot of some things... I know those Brazilian geodes get big but I don't think I've ever seen them that big. Did that big chunk of rose quartz come from South Dakota? I wonder what that cost them to be delivered, never mind the rest of the stuff!

Way out of my price range (no idea what price is on them but "out of my price range" is a very safe bet). They must have some good international contacts, their prices on things on average, is quite good! There is another very large crystal shop about 3 hours away from home, next time I'm there I'll take some pics. That too is a very impressive shop

I have seen some giants in person and they are impressive..... and as stated well out of my price range lol
Wrangellian
Yep, no doubt out of my price range too. I will have to remain happy with the small pieces I have.
