Lynch19
I found a rock in North idaho. I broke it open and scraped out as much dirt I could without damaging what looks like a small bone. It's about 3/4 of an inch long. It is also different color and texture of anything else found in this rock. Would like some opinions please. Thank you. Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Not a bone, but a mineral vein in the rock. Perhaps quartz. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Tidgy's Dad
Could be quartz. The cubic grey/ black bits look like galena. 1 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Lynch19
Galena, huh, cool. Thank you. can you guys look again at what I have circled. It is different from that of the quarts, different color and texture. Its not strong like the quarts either. I wish I had better camera.

Fossildude19
Could be calcite, but I am not seeing bone texture. Lynch19
Okay, that makes sense. Thank you. There are 3 ball like shapes inside it that are covered in tiny chrystals. Does that mean anything?
