Given the age, wouldn't the assumption have a default setting of poorly preserved cephalopod ?

Not with that shape.

That looks like a piece of a imprint or mold to me with just a little piece of the original fossil still in it…

@majstor, your specimen has some similarities to the Upper Cretaceous (Turonian) Zoophycos ichnofossils I see where I hunt in New Mexico. I sent your photos to Spencer Lucas, Ph.D. and his response was "Zoophycos group trace fossil". There is some good information in the thread, Marine Trace Fossil, where I first inquired about the identification of these interesting traces I was finding. I hope this is helpful.

Why not ?

Exactly, why not? It could be an outer imprint

The outer edge of the item is much to big, rounded, and curled.

I've never seen similar in a cephalopod/ammonite.

I will post more photos tomorrow, with more detailed/close-up shots. Meanwhile, take a closer look at second photo and zoom it, you will see the whole body of a specimen. This is not an outer imprint, this is a complete animal.

These photos are from the small museum in my city.IMG_20210117_102826135_HDR.thumb.jpg.3a862b9e9c47bf567aed3821e1757827.jpgIMG_20210117_102836052.thumb.jpg.ed947e9527cd7fffdff50cda70c2dd93.jpg

Do you know how big is this specimen from Spain?

Yes I have, my previous answer is for some members who think this is a trace fossil or just an outer imprint of cephalopode

Roughly like yours.

I still don't think badly worn cephalopod mold can be eliminated, but I also don't think it's a trace, or a gastropod.

Geologic feature is where I would place the odds after seeing the additional view.
