Ludwigia
I don't know exactly what it is, but it doesn't appear to be an egg. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Tidgy's Dad
The 'shell' has uneven thickness and is much too thick for a hatchling to break free. I'm not sure exactly what it is either, some sort of concretion, I should think. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Lone Hunter
Looking at all the little inclusions inside wondering if it could it be coprolite? Knowing size would help.
Fossildude19
Looks like a bryozoan, perhaps, an encrusting form on a shell. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Auspex
I think the 'innards' are bits of shell debris that have collected inside the 'pocket, which itself may be a shell fragment. It looks like it has a bryozoan film on the convex side (or even some sponge encrustation). I think it is pretty neat! 1 "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease!
