Moroccan Mosasaur Tooth in Matrix

Hey all, this Mosasaur tooth has popped up on my local auction site (I assume its Moroccan, the matrix certainly looks like it).... I don't really have any concerns about the tooth - it's got a missing tip, there may be a small repair at the bottom of the crown but all that is quite normal for these, the matrix is a concern though - is it real matrix or is it fabricated? 

To the right side of the tooth I can see some separation between the tooth and the matrix, the abrupt colour change in matrix on the right side gets my attention too. 
It's a fairly cheap tooth if the matrix is real.... 

 

The only information I have is this little gem - 

"Large fossil tooth."

I asked for clear, detailed pics of the crown - showing size, tip and base of the crown and got the last 3 you see posted here

This is a Moroccan Prognathodon tooth. The tooth is real and the matrix appears to be original, albeit somewhat roughly prepared.

Thanks for the reply, I grabbed it because the price was worth the risk with those not great pics and the seller was local so no freight cost! 

Here are some better pics, the crown is actually in pretty good condition apart from the broken tip.

Top pic I have the lighting from the side to show depth and shadows on the matrix (edited - just noticed the pic order got jumbled around)

Great tooth! It has a really nice color gradient from the tan base moving up to the thick dark brown enamel at the apex.
