Courtney my wife and I are completely new to this and trying to learn. We found these today in a river by us and was trying to figure out if they are worth hanging on too

Welcome to the forum! I am not sure what your object is, but it looks geological in origin (not a fossil).

Welcome to TFF from Austria!

First seems to be flint/chert nodules in limestone.

Second seems to be somewhat bizarrely weathered limestone.

Third seems also to be limestone with some cherty areas. Smaller spots are ??? Probably also not fossils.

So, not much fossil-wise, but still nice rocks for a rock garden!

But I think, you are generally living in a good area for fossils!

I am not seeing any fossils in these items.

Thank you everyone we really appreciate it

Always welcome to bring questions (and objects for ID) here. This is a forum for the dissemination of fossil knowledge and we have lots to share. ;)

You should be near some fossil hunting locations.

You can find geologic maps online that can show you what ages the rocks in your area are (at surface outcrops). This will give you a clue as to what age fossils can be found there.

Welcome from Georgia USA.

I agree with the suggestion that you have some chert nodules.  They are common in some of the Paleozoic limestone formations in your area.  Sometimes they can include fossils such as brachiopods, sponges, or corals, but I don't see any of those in your specimens.  Keep looking, they are around.
