Mudlarking the Meramec River in Missouri!

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, I'm a neophyte to the geological realm (especially regarding paleontology), but I thought I'd share some finds on the forum. In Layman's terms, I found some clams, possibly some coral, and (...wait I know this one) Crinoids!

Any possible fossil ID would be great, happy to be here, and glad to join a community with similar interests!

All items below were found within 100-200 yards of each-other on the Meramec river just outside of St. Louis, Missouri.

I'm no pro on your finds but pretty sure on these:

2, 5, 10 crinoids (love 2!)

1 looks like cross section of rugose coral horn coral)

7 rugose coral (horn coral)

8 crinoid and bryozoan hash plate

3 is a coral but I don't know which.

Looking like you have a really nice place!

Hi, nice haul.

I think I see a cross-section through a trilobite in no2?

Best regards,

J

The piece of pink glass in the first artifacts photo is Depression-era. I have a small bowl &/or cup somewhere that is the same color and has the same style bottom. I've also seen the pink glass ware in antique stores. Other than that, I know many of your fossils are crinoids, clueless on the rest!

Does anyone else see a cross-cut Trilo here?

If not, what is it?
