Malcolmt
Well it has finally opened to the public on December 4rth. "The new Dawn of Life Gallery" at The ROM is perhaps the best gallery on the planet covering the earliest life to the emergence of land dwelling creatures. I was fortunate to have a tiny part in the new gallery having prepared a number of the museums specimens and also having donated and sold them some pieces . Here is a tiny taste of what you can see in the new gallery. It will not disappoint. Ludwigia
Glad to see this. I managed to get down there for a day in August while I was over for my mother's funeral. I had been hoping to view the Burgess Shale exhibition, but they had closed the section off the previous week, I guess in preparation for this exhibit. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Top Trilo
Wow, that looks amazing, I could spend many hours looking at all those wonderful fossils. 19 minutes ago, R0b said: But where is the ROM? Can only than say thanks @Malcolmt for sharing this with us. Toulouse (France) has a good natural history museum I visited this year. Malcolmt
Here are 3 that I prepared for the ROM from their collection That have been posted various places in the past. Malcolmt
I managed to even get rid of a cephalopod (although quite an interesting one) This is a pair of cyclocystoids that I prepped and donated for the gallery Here is a complete and totally inflated Isotelus that I prepped for The ROM. A shame it was not mounted to display its completeness and 3D qualities This is a Plate of 5 Gabriceraurus dentatus that I repaired and prepped for the ROM This is a Koneprusia prepped for the ROM but unfortunately I do not have any good pics 20211206_144556.mp4 This is a Bumastus sp that I prepped and donated to the gallery. The picture does not really show how spectacularly inflated it is. I don't seem to have any pictures but there are 2 large drotops (one prone and one enrolled) I prepped that are out so that you can touch them but I don't seem to have taken a pic. Thery were beside the Wall of Trilobites near the touch screen from what I recall. There is also an Arthrocantha from Arkona but I don't seem to have taken a pic of that either. There are also a Dicranurus and a Crotalocephalus that were sold to the museum in a partially prepped condition for the Wall of Trilobites display. FossilNerd
Looks like an epic exhibit. You should be very proud to have added to such a gallery. Well done! Biotalker
Thanks for showing this Malcolm, next time I am "allowed" to come to Bowmanville, I will spend a day at the ROM. I enjoyed the eccentric Toronto aquarium last time, but this will be irresistible!

That's what I was hoping in my comment above to our provincial museum in Victoria. The province that is home to the Burgess Shale has a paltry Burgess collection in its museum, and not on public display. I wish they had the room and funding for something like the ROM display. I don't know where their priorities are (the museum staff or fund). Maybe someday they will wake up and it will come together.
Sjfriend
Thank you for the tour. As a trilobite lover the Burgess stuff has always been eye candy. And your additions are amazing. Now, if the museum was only 3000 miles closer
