Waco Pit ID Help

Recommended Posts

Although the primary draw of the Waco Research Pit (Cretaceous; Del Rio Formation) is its tiny micromorph ammonites, I have also found a number of other fauna at the site, including these bivalves. These are the last fossils from the Waco Pit that I have not yet been able to identify. I was hoping that someone with more familiarity with the site or bivalves of the Texas Cretaceous might know what they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I'm afraid that I can't help you with ids, but I would suggest to you that you try to get sharper macro photos of your finds, since it's difficult to make out the fine details on these.

I have a digital microscope but I do not have access to it right now. I was hoping that these photos would work until I have access to it again, but I guess I failed. I will have to try again when I get access to my digital microscope.

I have a paper somewhere on the micromorph fauna of the Grayson/Del Rio.  Here is a paper that might help and a faunal list that I was compiling.

The tiny bivalves are micromorphs just like the ammos, so you need to see what bivalves are known and then just think of them being itty bitty...
