Can anyone ID this?

My 13 year old son found this at the beach in Destin, FL. It reminds me of a tooth, but it's not pointed. Any ideas of what this is?

My guess is a modern broken sand dollar. The textured area are petalloids.

Sand dollar was my first thought as well.

Thank you. He's going to be disappointed because he was hoping it was some ancient fossil, but at least we know now.
