MistyH
I'm not sure if I've come to the right place but I found this during a walk today and I am unsure of what it could be. Can anyone help? Thank you.
Fossildude19
This looks like a keel or breast bone of some bird. What is the size of it? 3 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." It was found on the banks of an estuary near marshland. I did think it could be a bird but I can't quite work it out

Myrmica
The large sail-like structure is the keel, to which the flight muscles were attached.
jpc
It also has the clavicle (i.e. wishbone)... the more pinkish bone. It should be identifiable by someone here... @Auspex? It looks fairly big but there is nothing for scale so I may be wrong. That should limit the options... large birds in the UK. Geese, raptors, herons... I dunno. Auspex
Looks "fowl-ish". The coracoides are present, and can be used to narrow-down the I.D. They'd need to be removed &cleaned-up. 1 "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease!
