Thanks mate much appreciated. I have neglected this thread the last few days as MrsR and I have been raising money for Europe’s refugees crisis.  Finishing the last weeks posts with a few more Gastropods .

Another Lycoptera is ventro-dorsally preserved - you are looking at the underside of the fish. I do like this one.

@Bobby Rico

Lycoptera are one of my favorite fossil fish.

Have to be careful what you buy - a lot of them are heavily dyed.

  • I Agree 1

Those are beautiful Lycoptera, Bobby! :drool:

A bit of pin vise work around the edges might expose more of the fins.  ;)

Next is beautiful Knightia painting , along with a great Knightia eocaena ( Green River) that was the actual artist’s inspiration for this work ,  This is a gouache watercolor painting on watercolor paper. It really something special and I love it. @Pagurus gifted this wonderful painting .  It will be displayed in our living room . We have an idea to display it with one of my seascapes and my grandpas water colour of the Mayflower ship.

From the celebrated Cretaceous deposits of the Santana Formation of Sierra de Aripe, Brazil, is a very ugly 18cm complete fish: Rhacolepis brama, on one half of a split nodule. I say it is ugly but under the macro lens it is quite beautiful with its crystal preservation ,

A set of vintage prints of prehistoric history . Zdeněk Burian (February 11, 1905 in July 1, 1981 ,) was a Czech painter and book illustrator. His work played a central role in the development of palaeontological reconstruction of his time. Even today with our deeper understanding of dinosaur’s postures, Burian’s work is still regarded by many as one of the most influential palaeoartists of the modern era. I think as an Landscape Artist working in the sublime I appreciate as much as the subjects matter is that the scenes are very atmospheric portraits of prehistoric dramas.
