Fossil on the hill.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am Tina and i found my first fossil:yay-smiley-1:

Would be sooo thankful if someone would help me with the ID. Really have tried but haven't found anything similar.

I found it on the hill 45 km from the sea (close) i was at aboout 300 meters high. It was on Slovenian coastside. All three pictures are taken from stones at that place.

I'm sorry there is not a scale but i hope you can at least tell me if those are tree branches or some animal...

I will try better next time.

THANK YOU:ammo3: im so excited

4 pics showed up. Pic #3 looks like a possible ammonite. The objects in the other pics are very interesting. I have no idea what they are but I believe they are a cross section view of something. Hopefully someone will come along who has seen this before.

I think i fell in love with fossils. I find it fascinating that we can look at fist animals just like that in form of stone like as if those were statues of early life.

Always wanted to be archaelogist now i study microbiology!

Now i have to do a lot of research.

Thank you all for the support.

Hi Tina,

your first fossil fits your field of study, as it is one of very few single celled organisms visible to the unassisted eye!

I recently bought a very similar fossil, because they are not found near my home.

Best Regards,

Hi :),  that is very intresting information.

For starters i will go at national nature museum where they have a collection of fossils found in my country. And after i will go at fossil rich area which is just a few km from my home :hammer01:.

The geological succession of sediments from the Adriatic Sea to the center of Slovenia is Cretaceous-Tertiary-Holocene-Jurassic-Triassic-Paleozoic. If the specimens were found 45 km far from the sea they could be from Paleozoic, so fussulinids may be a correct ID.
