FF7_Yuffie
Hello, Thoughts on this? Labeled as Triceratops upper maxila from Hell Creek, Dakota. 23cm x 9 x 6 cm thick, 2.5 lbs. Unfortunately, the card is all the info there is --- been sold by someone from an old collection. Any thoughts would be great.
Nanotyrannus35
The tooth rows at least show that it is either an Edmontosaurus or ceratopsian jaw part, so there's that. As to whether it's a maxilla, @Troodon would probably know. Enthusiastic Fossil Hunter
jpc
PS... 'upper maxilla' is either repetitive, misleading or wrong. There is an upper jaw, called the maxilla, and a lower jaw called the dentary, but there is no 'upper maxilla'. I agree with nano... this could be either of the two beasts he mentions. Let's what troodon has to say. He has done a lot of homework on this topic.
Troodon
Ha ha had the same reaction to "upper maxilla" I believe its from a ceratopsian cannot definitively say it Triceratops other large bodies ones are around. "Almost" a complete side is a bit overstated.
