A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a dinosaur claw valued at $25,000 from a vendor at a gem show in Arizona, police said.

I saw that in our local paper, good that they apprehended the man and charged him.  One correction in the article the valuation used is incorrect.  I saw the claw and price on the label and it was nowhere near that amount.   Thats my photo they used.

It must be like a fishing story, each time the story is told, the catch gets bigger and bigger. in this case the price is bigger and bigger

Thanks for that update, troodon.  My initial reaction was not "oh, look they arrested him", but ..."How Much!!???"

Glad he’s been charged. Very interesting because when I talked to him in Tucson, he told me it was that value (25k) so I wouldn’t have known any different. Maybe that was the insurance value?

He may have general business insurance, definitely not specific to that claw, and would put the insurance claim in at that price.   All guesses.
